Default New and need help on ID

I'm new to the CW stuff mostly because I live in Arizona and sites are far in between. I have stumbled onto a site and have found some bullets and buttons. I was wondering if you guys that know this stuff could ID the small bullet in the picture. I have found a hand full of three ringers and the other one with it on the same site. Thanks for your help. It could be one of three kinds of revolvers, looking through my reference books. A LeMat, a Tranter or a Maynard. Someone with more experience can probably make a more definitive ID. Nice looking bullet.

keep on diggin'

Thanks Jimmy for the reply. I'm going to have to get some bullet books to help me ID some of these finds on this site. Been doing some research and there seems to be a couple more CW sites here in Arizona. I'm going to try and find them. I got some nice buttons off this site also. Thanks again. AL.C

Assuming the minie in your photo is a .58-caliber, the bullet looks like a .31 Eley, but perhaps it's a .36 LeMat variant. Because getting a precise measurement of a bullet's diameter is absolutely essential for correctly identifying it, I suggest you buy a set of digital calipers. They are commonly available online or at stores like Harbor Freight Tools for $15-$20. When you can tell us your bullet's precisely-measured diameter and length, please post the info, so we can make a better estimation of its ID.

Regards,
Pete [P.C. George]

PCGeorge, thanks for your reply. I will do as you say and re-post the bullet with the measurements. Thanks again. AL.C
