Your Favorite Metal Detector?

I just wanted to do a little poll on here and see what type of Metal Detector people favor the most! For simplicity I'm only going to run the poll for White's Electronics, Fisher, and Minelab. Also feel free to post any feature that you like the best about a certain one, ease of use, or the easiest for a newbie to operate. Any participation would be appreciated! Thank you!

I hunt with a White's DFX and I love it! (Just got it) I am still getting used to it though, but it effectively disc. out most trash and pinpoints very well. I started hunting with a Fisher 1236 and it is a very great entry level detector that does an awesome job at finding bullets and other relics. I would recommend it to the beginning hunter as well as the seasoned professional.

I would have to say, for the simplicity, the Whites MXT is my favorite. Easy to use, light weight and down right finds the buttons and bullets!!! A close second is the Whites DFX. I have both and they have performed brilliantly! Found a load of civil war artifacts and alot of silver too! :grin:

OK no one laugh, my "up to date" metal detector is a White's Classic II. :lol: Sorry I haven't got around to buy a new one!

I have an MXT, but would like to try a Tesoro and also saw a guy demonstrate a Minelab that completely discriminated out iron. that would be usefull in some spots i hunt.

I would say the Minelab XS2A pro. Like my modified White Classic ID also now and the Musky Advantage.

Well, dollins, my favorite(although it is heavy to me) is my White's DFX. The first one I ever had I bought at Radio Slack upteen years ago. From there I went to a Tesoro. The DFX just takes care of most of the guess work.

I am new to this forum but I have owned several detectors over the years. I currently use a Fisher CZ-6 and a Minelab Explorer XS. I started with a Fisher and always plan to have one around. I have also owned a Bounty Hunter, a Fisher 1266, a Tesoro, a Garrett 2500, and a Minelab Sovereign. For coin hunting the Minelab and the Fisher are about equal. The Minelab has probably a little more depth but the Fisher is very close. I like the display on the Minelab especially since I am detecting for CW relics. I can look and see where the target is displaying and be about 75% sure of what it is before I dig. If you decide on a Minelab Explorer be sure and get the book "Mastering the Minelab Explorer" by Andy Sabisch. The learning curve on the Explorer is a little steep and requires a lot of concentration. Any detector that you get accustomed to, and have faith in, will do the job. Buy it and use it often!

My favorite detector is the mxt. Over the years I have used some of my friends machines that include, Minelab Quattro, Whites Dfx, and terosa brands. All of these are excellent metal detectors; however, in my opinion, not one was as versitile as the Mxt. Its average at coin shooting, top marks for relics, and one of the best gold nugget machines. Its an all-around well built, user friendly, more power than you would ever need machine.
