    Two unknowns

Both of these objects came from a small and very remote campsite. Apart from a few shotgun shells and modern bullet casings from hunters, everything I have found that could be identified were from the civil war. I'm fairly for certain these objects were from the soldiers using the campsite...

    Shipping plug?

I found a cicular object, appears to be made of brass, that is 40mm's in diameter and about 9mm's high, and it is threaded. It was found at a civil war campsite and at the time it was found I wasn't sure if it was civil war related, so it went into a box of unknown objects that I keep. I...

    Federal sword buckles- info needed

Does anyone know if the Fed. sword buckles were made to a standard size? I recently found a small camp site near a river ford that I have found both Union and Confederate relics. One relic is a buckle keeper that I was assuming probably went to a federal sword buckle. But it is a few mm's...

    Camp site?- but no bullets

I started metal detecting an area on an isolated river bank that showed signs of an old house. There are several piles of stone and old brick laying on the ground. I was figuring I might find an old coin or two and was surprised when I dug a scabbard tip followed by a plain eagle shield button...

Eagle on 34mm 1pc button- ID help

Found this at a site where I have found some British coppers and a 1798 'United States' infantry button, all my finds date to the late 18th to early 19th century. The button is 34mm and has indentations along the edge. There's 13 little stars above the eagles head. Reminds me of some of the GW...

    5th corps badge

Found this in the lawn of house that served as a military hospital during the civil war. It looks to me as though it might be a 5th corps (Maltese cross) badge that was field made. I can't find to many examples of corps badges for comparison. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

    Lead triangle- thinga ma jiggy

I found this lead triangle at a civil campsite, but I'm for sure it has anything to do with the civil war as it was an old working farm at the time as well. This one was found as well as two others in the same area. The other two were bent and twisted and lacked the stamped 'T' in the center...

    Initials carved into fired bullet

Here is a fired bullet that I recovered from a large civil war camp. I'm not sure if I will ever know the answer. But what I want to find out about this bullet, even perhaps more so than what the "BFBP" stands for, is how the bullet was recovered by the soldier who carved in the intials or...
