I'm new to DC, don't know anything about metal detecting around here an I'd like to link up with someone/people to go detecting.

Can anyone tell me what this is? I found it in the park at Harpers Ferry, poking out of the mud where the lawn was eroding. It's about the size of a quarter, looks like copper, and is threaded on the inside and at the top and is hexagonal. Thanks!
