    Strange Carved

Hmmmm - Is there any other kind of carved bullet except a strange carved bullet? Look carefully and you will see the blade "tracks" down the edge of the bullet, then on the ogive. It looks like the "artist" had in mind freeing the ring from the waist of the bullet. The ring had slipped down...

    Fat Starbase

Guys - Here is one more orphaned bullet bound for the cheapo bin at the pawn shopbefore being salvaged - again. It measures from about .585 to .605 diameter, and is fairly concentric in appearance. Curiously it has a star in the base a la the Washington Arsenal type. Not too distorted from...

    A Strange 2-Ringer

All - This too, was a "rescued" bullet - also from the $3 bin at a pawn shop. Figured a weird two-ringer was worth the time. Measures about D = .572 (more or less - a shot bullet recall) and the cavity is .689 which is almost to the nose. Also has two paper shards protruding from the...

Me Too, Tex - I gotta strange one

Guys - Picked this out of a batch of shot bullets headed for the $3 shelf in a store. Thought it was worth a look-see. Anybody wanna offer an opinion? "Flats" are about .480 across and the "High Spots" are about .502. Length is about 1.04 with what appears to be light impact. Cheers,

    More Small Enfields

All - Nothing special, just some more small Enfields with dimensions. Any comments appreciated. The 2nd and 4th are partially concreted or "jammed" with very small river gravel so the cavity depth could not be accurately measured. Bill

    Small Enfield

All - I am intrigued by the smaller of the three Enfield types in this posting. It is the one on the left. The dimensions for the three bullets are indicated on the card. It looks almost like Cosmopolitan. Any/all comments are appreciated. Bill

    5th Corps Badge

All - This badge was in a box of "stuff" I'd call metal detecting "litter" in a friend of mines country store and museum. He had the stuff out on a counter in the back to look at it and had missed this somehow. I think it is a 5th Corps Badge. Recovery location would have been somewhere...

    Eley Needle Gun Cartridges

All - Just picked these up - think I like them. Perhaps not a major type but certainly different. Two 41's and two 34's - one each caliber in round and conical. I guess I can eat my belt next week! Or maybe chew on a bullet. [edited to correct 36's to 41's]
