I found this unusual brass item yesterday evening, and I have no clue as to what it is. It has writing and a date on it, but I am unable to make it out. From the best that I could understand, it has: Pat (or Hat?) Sutter (or sutler, etc) 18xx (appears to read 1839 or 1889) What did I find? Thanks!

This morning I found this unusual bullet. I think that this would be a 44 caliber ball. It has been fired, and is hollow on the base, but as you can see, the top is either blown out, or the soldier tried to pull the ball out and eventually just fired it out. I've never seen a bullet like this...
