These two pistols will always bring fond memories of my father and I hunting together. On my Dad's 64th Birthday in 1994, he was digging all these 36 cal. colts from one hole . I was helping him pinpoint, when swinging my coil out of the way .. another signal occured. I checked it out and found that beneath the ground.. in an area about 2 ft square, were at least 3 distinct signals. Sticking my shovel into the ground near the first large signal.. and prying at the ground .. imagine my surprize when the butt of the first pistol showed up. Yet after looking many hours. and several return trips .. we have never found either cylinder , nor the other barrel . I think the other item found with them is a vent pick for a canon. Just wanted to share the outing I had with my father.. He is now 72 and is still detecting with me from time to time.

Wow! What a great story and pictures! In what general area did y'all find these fantastic artifacts?

Gary, they were found near my home here.. at a small skirmish/camp site called Marks Mills ... where a Confederate column captured a Union supply train that General Steele was trying to get resupplid by . Kim

Chuck, Define small article! hehe !! And in what format .. here in the site.. or what .. how many words .. ?? I would not mind doing a small article.. but, i really need to know more about how to do so...and how to submit, etc . Okay ? Kim
 
Article.

I do not make limits on articles. It can be as many words as you want. It will be published in our newsletter - printed and on the site in HTML and PDF formats. You can use any word processor or text document and email them to me. I will edit if needed and will send back a proof for you to check before it is published.

Chuck, Please allow me not to make a promise about the article , but I will try to come up with something. Job dictates upon me a certain amount of time constraints. That .. and i have never written an article of any nature! So, let me play with it a bit, and hopefully I will be able to come up with something, okay ? Kim
