Got out this morning after the soaking rain we had. After an hour of digging I recovered a musket ball, poss. a pistol bullet, iron canister shot, a partial nose cone, and a cannonball chunk. Cant wait to go back, Will post better pics. after the pieces soak in some lye for a poss. I.D. Thanks for looking Scott

I just beat the iron balls with a hammer :) Gets the flaky iron off fast.

If you found that near the water tower the iron is from confederate canister .75 cal. The lead should be from Lilly or Mott .69. Most likely Mott as Lilly wouldn't have as good of a shot at that hillside. Im thinking Lilly had his hands full to the East and North, almost being flanked.

Looks like a Burnside bullet. Although I can only see one ring. At first I thought it was a Smith Carbine, but the ring would be too high.

I didn't here from you toady, but sunday I'll most likely go over to straw plains.
 
Not that far away from the water tower. Wasn't there more than 2minutes and got that small bullet.
