I am going to restart the new online bullet book. I am looking for volunteers to help with it. Please respond if you are interested in helping and what form of help you can provide.

Any one who helps will be given proper help and their own web page if desired.

Chuck

I can help with graphics design and illustrations. I have been testing out some new software. I also can provide some bullet pics and write a little text for the different pages.

Mike

Not being all that knowledgable about computers, probably all I can do is submit pictures of specimens from my collection.

Gary

That is good enough. If we all work together, we can get this done faster and do a better job.

All,

We will start on this the first weekend in April. I want to finish the site and work on the newsletter this Month. I am hoping to have the newsletter in the mail at the same time.

Hello

I have my new book "Some Civil War Bullets" ready to go.

Tom Stelma

Also in this post is a review of part 2 of "Round Ball to Rimfire" Two.

On the good side I found it to contain a great deal of information on the various carbines & rifles actually used in the Civil War by the Union forces. I am glad that the post civil war cartridges were noticed as such in the reading but not along the bullet reference picture. There is great variety in the various bullets and Dean Thomas along with brother Jim and all who worked on the book have done a very good book. I am glad to have this book in my collection as a very good reference book.

On the bad side, I found the 577-caliber Sharps labled as a 56-caliber bullet. The various tie-ring Sharps were not covered very much. The 37-caliber Maynard was not covered or just overloked or perhaps will be included in book 3. These are the only thing that I noticed as missing or not covered.

I look forward to Three in the works which I think will cover Union revolver bullets, the Enfield bullets and the various Confederate bullets. I hope there is good reference on the Confederate side as there is the Union.

Over all on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the book as 8.5 and recommend it to all who collect bullets. This is my opinion and in no way am being critical but showing the things which seemed to stand out in the book as missing or not covered as well as other bullets.

Again I recommend the book to all bullet collectors. I will post more on it as I read the additional wealth of information Dean as brought together for someone like me who likes all the detail stuff.

Tom Stelma

Heck, forget all that dull correspondance and written detail stuff. Show me PICTURES with brief descriptions about what I'm seeing. I ain't one of them pansies who buy Playboy just to 'read' the articles!

Gary

PS...I do kinda like the book, though.

Just being honest. Dean does have the pictures but it takes a while to find them and then I might have missed some of the pictures too.

Tom Stelma

My book has them in color plus a reference to McKee & Mason, Thomas books Ready, Aim, Fire & Some bullets and Cartridges; plus MM & Thomas cross reference as well.+
