button found in Dinwiddie VA.....help?

None of my friends can tell me what it is. Just looking to see if anyone has ever seen one of these. It has an 8 point star on it i reckon.

does it have a backmark ? what does the back look like or say ?

I can't make out any words on the back of it. I probably need to clean it a little better, i'm just not sure how. It may not even be civil war era but an eagle button was found 3ft from it at the same depth.

looks pretty promising thenclean the back with some lemon juice and a toothpick if it isnt too thin and see if you can get a word out of it

think its gonna be a civilian button prewar confederate though maybe 1850ish ?

try warm soapy water and a soft bristle tooth brush. Lemon juice may be too much acid.
