Here are some german igniters/Friction igniters.
1.Top. C/76 construction 1876 Brass tube

2. 1862- tin

3. cardboard - for practice and blanc purpose

4. Bavarian /Saxonian igniter - brass tube pull wire

5. Older igniters fired with torch (right a powder shovel) the left fires
a little lead ball into the powder bag so no piercing is neccesary.

Navy igniters

Tin box of original prussian friction igniters for Fieldartillery


The second was an percussion type igniter .Was fired by a hit with a club or with an hammer lock.


Navy used heavy brass screw in igniters-watertight.
