CS Tongue and US Eagle plate

Hi guys,I have a small collection of ACW items I put together in the early 1990s,mainly buttons but also this CS Tongue and US Eagle plate.I'd like to get them authenticated with a view to selling them on,any comments on originality will be appreciated,many thanks,

I am not sure about the CS tongue off hand. However the eagle plate is good. It should bring around $125-135.00 on todays market. The face is nice and it has both hooks. The lead loss around the edge hurts it a little. Still a nice plate!

I'll "second" what Ian said about the eagle breastplate. It's definitely the real McCoy (not a reproduction). As you probably already know, "completeness" (no missing parts) and lack-of-damage are crucial for getting a relic to bring top dollar. The "battering" on your breastplate's outer rim and consequent loss of material on its back are why it is limited to about $125-135 on today's market. (Again, I agree with Ian.)

About the CS buckle-tongue:
Unfortunately, so many Reproductions of them have been manufactured, and then EXCELLENTLY "artificially aged" to look like a genuine civil war specimen, most collectors have become EXTREMELY wary about buying them. Therefore, you'll need to get an appraisal of yours from a top-level expert on Confederate belt buckles. Your specimen does look good to me, but I do not consider myself a top-level expert on CS buckles. So, show it to somebody like Lewis Leigh ...or Larry Hicklen at midtennrelics.com (maybe midtennesserelics.com) ...or Harry Ridgeway at www.relicman.com.
