Hello I have these in my fathers collection and we would like to know a little more info about them if possible.. Are they worth much? These have been in his collection for over 30yrs.. Thank You!

Unfortunately, both of them are absolutely definitely Reproduction items. As your father's long-time ownership of them indicates, they are old ones, dating back to at least the 1960s Civil War Centennial period, and perhaps somewhat earlier. I attended some battle-reenactments during the Centennial and personally saw some of these exact items for sale there as Souvenirs for the tourists.

Both of these types are shown (in photographs) in the Reproductions section in the massive reference-book "Plates and Buckles of the American Military 1795-1874" by Sydney C. Kerksis. Note particularly that your dad's rectangular CSA belt-buckle's body is as flat as a board. All of the Original ones of this specific type were curved (to match the curvature of a man's waist).

Because to you I'm just a stranger on the Internet, I will not ask you take take my word (alone) about any of this info. So, I encourage you to verify it
