I just thought I would post this button for a you all to drool over. It is a pre-war flower button that is loaded with gold gilt. The back-mark is Benedict & Burnham which dates it from between 1834-1843. I dug this button on Jan 14, 2010 at the home site of Col. James D. Bennett 9th TN Cavalry CSA.

Great find. I have the pleasure of hunting a 1849 house site in williamsburg va.There are some of my finds in the treasure section. I know who the previous owner of my site was ( a Lt Colonel who was fairly famous ) , but I don't want to say for fear of the county coming and shutting me down.Keep on diggin there is more to find.
