Federal sword buckles- info needed

Does anyone know if the Fed. sword buckles were made to a standard size? I recently found a small camp site near a river ford that I have found both Union and Confederate relics. One relic is a buckle keeper that I was assuming probably went to a federal sword buckle. But it is a few mm's larger than the two federal buckles that I have in my collection. I'm wondering if this means that the keeper could have come from something like a Virginia plate (I did find a CS tongue portion of a two piece buckle right near the keeper) or were some of the Federal buckles produced in larger sizes than others. I don't have an exact size on the keeper, but I can get a measurement if it would be of any use. Thanks for any opinions!

The sizes were different. There were numerous manufacturers and molds. I took my sword belt plate to Lawrence Christopher once and matched it up with 20+ keepers to find the best one. Even that wasn't perfect, but there were a lot of variations.
