I know where the treasure is, i have researched this site for years,i have been there, i have searched a little with my detectors (garrett and a bounty hunter). but i need to rent a GPR which takes (more treasure) than i got.

What i don't know is what to do when i find this cache,i am quite sure it's private property ,i always ask landowners for permission to trespass or dig. if i ask for permission to dig on this property and they say no...(how)can i lay claim on the "treasure" so they can't go dig it up,(now that they know about it), if so, where??
This very old cache is in (local county) property which makes me think.. "it's easier to ask for forgivness than for permission"

You thoughts are apprecieted...

Guess you're not too sure its there or you wouldn't be asking us about whether it was ok to do something potentially against the law. Either you know its there and do what you gotta do, or don't. If you gotta ask, then you already know the answer to the question, cause nobody is gonna sanction breaking the law and making all relic hunters look bad.

Whoa there nelly, wasn't askin' for that. simm-a' down now, let me be a little more clear..

I need to know WHO to contact about "claiming" this treasure as "my find" as to keep the local gov. from it.(they can have their share,i aint greedy.) or WHERE to claim a known cache or WHAT is the procedure??

as i stated..i always ask for landowner permission if tresspassing or digging.
i would never encourage anyone to "break the Law",especially THers,(we get enough bad rap as it is).

so PLEASE, don't put YOUR WORDS into my post unless you got some informative, constructive comments or critizisim (about the subject) and not a judgemental reaction.(but i know you just misunderstood the question), i will try to be more clear next time.

No apology nessasary, i too have seen those other Forums where everyone seems to want to argue...or idk
but i do know that this forum ,on this site, has always been very friendly and considerate.
which is what you get when you deal with good people with good sense.
i see a lot of helpful and informed folks on here, (which i need cause i'm as dumb as the dirt i been diggin' in)
so i'm glad we found a good one.

Please accept some friendly advice from ol' Uncle Pete.

There is a very important difference between being Dumb and being Ignorant. My dad told me long ago, "Dumb is forever, but Ignorance can be cured (by Education)."

You are reading and posting on this website in search of Education. That's not dumb, it's smart. :)

Regards,
Pete [P.C. George]
