Metal Detecting

I want to start metal detecting for relics and such, but since Hurricane Katrina, I moved to San Antonio, Texas and don't know where to start. Can Someone give me some hunting places?

Thanks,

Nicholas

You would of been better off in Louisiana for Civil war relic hunting. We all understand why you are not there and our prayers are now and have been with you all! But what about hunting for Texas/Mexican war relics? I believe I would be hunting around the Houston's retreat route to the San Jacinto battlefield area. Thats just me though, I don't know of any large scale Texas CW battle or camp areas. Hope you can find some!

I just found out that the Confederates used the Alamo during the Civil War, and there was a battle there so I'm gonna check it out.........thanks\

Hi Nick23.

Be sure that you're not hunting on government property or National Park land. Fines of up to $ 100,000 await you !

Also, it's best to get permission from land owners before hunting the sites. Trespassing laws apply here.

Not to discourage you but just to make you aware. Relic hunting and metal detecting can be challenging and rewarding. Just follow the rules and you'll be successful.

Good Luck !
