These are some relics I dug last week in Virginia in an area of retreat of the union. I found bullets and a button in an area up a hill above this area last year and found these in an area where the union retreated across the river below the hill. Some may not be period but I would like any opinions on these items and what you think. The four plates and spikes were all found in the same hole, two of each type, and one had the chunk of wood with it. The one picture has an Ax head, a small lead hammer or mallet and what appears to be a tip of a hook??? The other picture has two horseshoes and a couple different pieces of chain. The smaller of the two chains is pretty unusual and I have no idea what it would be used for. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
