Ok all...need some help

I've been detecting this town that was occupied during the CW and it changed hands more than once. In 3 trips I've found 23 bullets "drops and fired" and most are of different cals...I'm using a CZ6 with the 10.5 coil and was running a pattern near a shrub wall in the pouring rain when I got a pull tab reading...I dug this button but couldn't tell that it even said anything before I got home. Upon cleaning the mud off it, my heart started racing when I see that it says from top to bottom C A...like this

C

A

.....after cleaning it a bit more I can see the outline of the S on the left hand side at the 9 oclock position WOOT!

BUT!!...This button face isn't made of metal...it's like it's bone or cream colored ceramic or something and only the back is iron and it's bit bigger than a nickle...it doesn't have a regular shank that sticks out...it's sunk in and there is a bar that the thread was tied to....I wish I had a camera to show you all this strange button...I have looked all over the place on the web with no luck..

HELP
