My 11 yr. old and I just got a detector this chistmas a titan 1000xd with 10" coil. when I called kellyco they steered me to the titan, now that we've been using it it seems to send alot of false signals on the discrimination.
Also I have a friend I grew up with that has an civil war prison camp on thier property and i remember as a kid they found several bullets just using the naked eye, but I never thought much more about it till now, he says we can come detect the area, what i want to know before i drive 3-1/2 hrs, is will the titan find anything?

Welcome

Try burying a quarter at six inches and see if your detector will hit it. If so, put it at eight inches and try again. If it will hit an object between six and eight inches in the ground, it will find civil war relics. If it wont hit a quarter at six inches, I'd stay home and save your gas money for a different detector. I know nothing about a Titan. I, too, use a White's MXT with a 14" coil.

Hope it works out for you.

I found out titan is made by first texas products, they make bounty hunter detectors, kellyco has them make them under the titan name,

I also use the Mxt with the new super12" coil. If you find that after you bury a few targets at different depths, it still is not performing the way you would like, call Kellyco and explain your problem with a rep. I wouldnt be surprised if they allowed you to send it back for a different make, and model. Your target range should be 3 to 8 inches for most Civil War relics. Good luck Scott

I buried a quarter at 6"and the detector picked it up is that good enough to go look for cw items. we've been digging up alot of junk , a few coins but nothing old yet.
We're looking forward to trying to find some cw items, any hints on looking for bullits and such?

I have been using my Bounty Hunter detctor for a few years now, and have found a decent amount of civil war relics. A civil war bullet gives me a signal that is very close to the zinc range on my detector, but sometimes a little higher or lower on the scale. I would suggest setting the discrimination to where small iron nails are just screened out, and dig everything else. You will dig a lot of trash, but that is how you will find the good stuff too. If I set the descrim too high on my BH, I lose detection depth. So the lower the discrim the better. Hope this helps. If you want some company out there, I am willing to travel. I am in middle TN and it only takes me about 3 hrs to get to Tunica (I just got back from there on Sunday). Thanks and good luck. Tim G.
