At that split second I knew that I could kill that sharpshooter myself, so I slung out my bowie knife and flunged it right at his head, thus killing him instantly. A few minutes later the skirmishers fled from the scene and went over yonder. I stopped quickly to grab my bowie knife that was covered in crimson blood and wiped it of on my handkerchief. After we buried the dead of our and tended to the wounded, we had to set up camp because it was already getting dark on the road. So I rolled out my makeshift knapsack and and started to sleep.


Dawn came yet again as usual when I was having a good dream of being home with my sweet heart, Anna, having a time of my life. When I woked up everyone started to line and get ready to march so I had to hussle to get in rank. During the march some of us started to straggle, so we had to wait a while because one of the stragglers was the colonel's son. I was grateful for the opportunity because it gave me time to go grab an apple from an apple tree nearby. Eating the delicious apple everyone around me asked where I got the apple so I pointed blatantly at the apple tree a few yards back. So half of my company, including sergeant Kilby, fell out of line to grab a couple apples. So I went with them to grab a couple more. After a few minutes of this leisure we then saw that our whole regiment stop. As if lightning struck me I was horrified to see that the colonel was coming our way. When he stop he asked our company that who gave you the idea to fall out of the ranks and stop to eat apples. Then everyone pointed at me .....
