Hey all been awhile since I had anything to post so here goes.

Went out to try a new spot but it was a dump- literally- illegal dumping everything from boats to screen doors/car fenders. I went back the spot where I found the .69 cal musketball last time. I went back to teh same area and found a .54 cal musketball and also noticed some broken ceramics. I next got a large target signal that had some good intermittent hi-tones. I began to dig and try to clear out the iron nails partially masking the target to see if it got better- It did! I pulled some nails then again noticed lots of broken ceramics - I enlarged the hole and at about a foot down uncovered a small almost intact crock of some sort. I used my DX-1 in the hole to chase signals as I removed dirt- I got excited as I thought I had a large copper coin - but it instead turned out to be a lead poker chip! Another first for me and a really cool camp find. I always rescan the hole once I find something and was rewarded as I kept hearing some good hi tones as I moved around in the hole w/ the DX-1. I removed some more sand and finally got a cluster of nice bars and a +42 VDI. I expected another lead item but was surprised by my first Florida button/also my 1st arty button. It turned out to be a one piece convex artillery cuff button ( it most closely resembles (Albert- AY62). So it was a good day relic hunting for me. Good luck hope the posts pick up as it cools down some.

Okie81/Jacob, the photos of Bama Dave's relics show up fine on my computer. Apparently there's a problem with your computer's Settings.

The button Bama Dave dug is an 1830s US Artilleryman's button, a.k.a. an "Eagle A" button. He dug it in Florida, that's all.

Here is a photo of a civil war era Florida (State) button. Its backmark indicates it was made around 1850.

Ooops... forget to mention...
Congratulations on that very nice Artillery button, Dave. :) Relics sure come out of that Florida sand looking pretty. Been many-many years since I had the pleasure of digging in it.
