question about mansfield and lamb sword

I have a civil war cav. saber purchased from ebay, it is marked Mansfield and lamb in the oval, dated 1865 with cew inspectors marks, I have had Larry at middle tenn, tell me it was strait up and I trust him, but had one person from a military forum say they did not like the way my v in the M of lamb went all the way to the legs, I have compared it to other makers marks and it seems to match the 65 dated ones, I was also told that this maker marks has been seen on the market alot lately, any one hear of fake calv. sabers on the market, I thought that civil war swords were like German Nazi swords to expensive to fake well. thanks
