Found the relics on a couple of hunts at same spot in Gburg. Any ideas what the 2nd item is in the top pic and could the last piece be a ramrod end or a big nail?

Hi Hang 7575, TN MXT, and my fellow TH'ers

You have some nice finds there. Your shoe looks like a mule shoe as it appears to be wider than a horse shoe. That curved iron looks like a handle from a candle holder or lamp. It is a bit hard to determine without something in the picture to give prospective. Your third item appears to be a square nail, a very normal find in Civil War encampments. What is really nice is when you find a square nail that is not all rusted up. Not sure if those four bullets are normal three ringers as I can't see the base. That canon shell frag is a nice find. I can not tell but the brass item looks like a mechanical pencil, but that is just a guess. That last item I have no answer for you. It is one of those 'Whatsits'. I used the Super 12 for about a month but it is very hard for me to use in the woods when so many of the bullets are under the base of trees. I did manage to find a nice broken brass CS spur at 14 inches. I listen for those very faint signals and dig for China. Keep digging those goodies up and posting your pictures on here. Be safe in all you do.

PS: Remember; Don't leave it in the ground!

I'm certain that the big item is actually an Ox-shoe. Due to the extremely wide "cleft" in the front of an Ox's hoof, shoes for them were made as two separate halves, instead of the typical U-shaped one for horses and mules.
