Battlefield 1866

I am hoping my posts will stir up a little interest in discussing European Battlefields and Battlefield Finds.
Here are a few pics from the Ossuary at St. Martino where the Italian (Piedmont) troops defeated the Austrian in part of what is known as the battle of Solferino. The bloody action that occured there in 1859 lead to the founding of the International Red Cross.
The ossuary may be a little "shocking" to some US Civil War fans. It is common on most of the Italian battlefields to find these sort of monuments. Also in France on some of the WW I sites like Verdun (1916).
Anyway, a battlefield and monuments worth visiting if you are ever in the area.
