I picked this up from a local antique store and wondering anyone could comment on it. It is a metal South Carolina hat badge. Only thing I can make out is a 1776 towards the bottom on the front. There is some writing in the ovals but I am unable to make it out.
It's about 1-3/4 by 1-1/4.
Any thoughts to it's authenticity? Thank you in advance for your time.
