Strange relic from CW campsite, need ID help please. Tsgman

I dug this a couple of weeks ago. I have no Idea what it was used for. I thought possibly it help paper in a journal maybe? The flat side had slots in each end which allows the shafts to move up or down. Thanks for any help you can give. It is next to a smashed Eagle button for size. Thanks, Tsgman

That is not a bad guess. I have seen this sort of design in many turn of the last century note pads. Nice find anyway about it.
