Unusual bullets

These bullets are cropping up from time to time on British sites and I'm wondering if they're known in the States. I record for the Portable Antiquities Scheme over here and these are popping up as detector finds more frequently. Usually there are a group found in a field and not just singles. We initially thought they are from the Jacobs rifle but the calibre seems to small. The bulletsweb-Unidentified-ammunition.jpgweb-Asst-un-id-ammo.jpg appear to be preshaped which when fired gives the appearance of having seven sides. They come in two varieties one being rounded and "pip"- like and the other has a squarer form. Has anyone any idea please which rifle these are associated with??

Many thanks
