Since the F75 I had didn't work out I'm planning on using the lightweight Minelab I traded it for in open field and woods scouting, in search of Civil War camps. But, once located I'm planning on using my MXT for deep search, since the lightweight machine doesn't have any large coils. Which would be better for this, the 12" Super coil or the 10" X 12" Excelerator coil? I'm also considering the 14" Circular DD coil, but don't know if the weight wouldn't be a little prohibitive and don't know if the depth difference between the 12" and the 14" would be worth it. Can someone with experience on the larger coils give me some ideas?

Canewrap, I have used the Whites Super 12 coil for some time now with great success! I was amazed the first time I went to one of my favorite fields that hasn't been giving up much from being hunted alot. In one days hunting with the new coil, I unearthed almost 3x more finds than on my best day using the Whites 10"dd previously. It just covers so much more ground and when tuned right, goes very deep. One of my deepest finds was a artillery fragment to a Schenkel at around 14". It was faint but recognizable. Also found the whole bottom part of a bugle at over 10". When I get my camera fixed I have alot to post from this field and the surrounding area. The other coils are also good but I like to stick with Whites products. That said I would suggest one of the new " One of the new Butterfly dd coils from Excelerator. They are outstanding in mineralized ground. Good luck to you, Scott
