Default White's XLT Spectrum

I have a chance to buy a White's XLT Spectrum that is practically new. He wants $300 for it. He bought it new about 10 years ago. My questions are how does it compare to the MXT, has the technology changed alot since this detector was made and is it worth buying. I have a Fisher 1266X. How would you rate the two machines?

Hi My Fellow TH'ers
Technology wise the MXT is a much better detector, but if you have a spouse, friend, child that wants to give it a try then it is very easy to learn how to use the XLT. Basically, you turn it on and go!
I currently use the Whites DFX and carry the XLT as a backup spare detector. To me the $300.00 would be a good investment as you would be able to learn how to use it without too much of a learning curve as you know the MXT already. I look at it this way; I use my spare detector to get into property as a 'I'll show you how to TH if you give me permission to search your property!' Now I have to say I have been bested (Beginner's Luck) on a couple of occasions, once I lent my detector to a guy who went and found a 179X Large cent, and another time I lent my detector to a 9 year old that found a beautiful 1927 Buffalo Nickel.

I guess you will have to ask yourself if you can afford the $300.00. I would say it is a good investment.

Good luck in all you do!
