I am posting a list of forum rules: Please tell me what you think.

  7. Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.[/*:m:fad8a]
  8. While we are quite happy to have constructive comparative conversations about competitor's products, we will not tolerate blatant adverts or the sort of 'ooh look, yet another bulletin board' threads. Also, we would appreciate it if you refrain from blatant bashing of other boards.[/*:m:fad8a]
  9. We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.[/*:m:fad8a]
  10. We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules.[/*:m:fad8a]
  11. Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.[/*:m:fad8a]
  12. You cannot post any affiliate or referral links, or post anything asking for a referral. Such posts will be subject to removal.[/*:m:fad8a]

Any threads/posts of these types will be deleted or edited without warning. Any violations may end in you being banned, but worry not, you will be given an opportunity to explain before being banned.

<u>Advertising Services</u>:

We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products or services. Explicit advertising in sigs is also prohibited.

If you have something for sale as an individual, you can post it in the appropriate forum, but it is best to ask first. We would prefer that you not post your buisness link in out forum. We do have advertising for sale. If you are interested, write us an email or private message.

<u>Links in Sigs</u>:

Links in signatures must follow these guidelines:
  1. Linking to a commercial product/service is fine, provided it is not a product or service that competes with a product or service offered by cwbullet.org.[/*:m:fad8a]
  2. Promotional text for a commercial product or service is ok, provided there are no price(s) of product(s) or service(s) listed.[/*:m:fad8a]
  3. A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) is allowed, provided the site is not sexual or does not violate vBulletin community standards. The Civil War Bullet team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards. (Examples include sites about drugs and/or sex.)[/*:m:fad8a]
  4. Duplicate links to the same URL in a sig are not allowed.[/*:m:fad8a]

<u>Signature Size Limits</u>:

All signatures should not exceed the following size limits, and you can't have both text and images
  1. For text signatures: 4 lines normal size, 8 lines small size and up to 90 chars per line. Font sizes above 2 are not allowed. (Blank lines count as lines.)[/*:m:fad8a]
  2. For images in signatures: 1 image up to 300 pixels wide, 125 pixels tall and 20k in size[/*:m:fad8a]
  3. Animated images in sigs are not allowed[/*:m:fad8a]

Remember these rules are here to keep it fun and avoid hassels.

I think it is basically fine. The stuff about selling items and links is a wee bit in the "grey," only because there is a forum here for selling, buying and trading stuff specifically and a lot of time (like tonight) we have links to other commercial sites to show off especially rare or especially dubious items. Not sure I can do any better articulating a more refined set of rules, however.

Thanks again for running this terrific site. It has been a big help to me, and I think I can say so for a lot of others.

No problems here. I think you've covered the basics very well and made provision for the unexpected. Just want to join emike123 in expressing my thanks to those that keep the site up and running and to all the great members that share so freely.

Rules and guidelines are clear, reasonable and acceptable. Check spelling in 2nd paragraph under "Advertising Services" toward end of 2nd sentence ie ...business link in 'out' (our?) forum.
