Default HSC Cadet Buckle

Can anyone tell me what HSC stands for? Buckle resembles an 1874 with a stamped back. I'm assuing late 1800's to very early 1900's. Thanks as always, Craig.

Hi Craig:

See the following web site for a reproduction of your buckle (maybe the same one??)—“ VINTAGE CADET EAGLE MILITARY BUCKLE MARKED HSC”: http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cache:Ku ... cd=8&gl=us

I wonder if “HSC” stood for Hampden-Sydney College, Virginia.

I checked out the site and Hampden-Sydney College sites. Buckle appears to be the same. Quite possible with Hampden but I was unable to find any pic of a cadet uniform to verify. I'll keep up my search and post if I find anything absolute.
