Confederate Infantry Manuscript "I" English Imported Button was found in Southwest Michigan! Yes I said Michigan! I have hunted this site a couple of times before they tore the house down three weeks ago. I was using a Whites DFX with the stock coil. It was around 6-8 inches down and hit real good. Let me know what you think of this button and a couple more I found on the same site with a Minelab Xterra 70 with the stock 9" 7.5kHz Coil and a 10.5 18.75kHz Coil I found a CSA Button with the X70 witht he 10.5kHz Coil at only 5"-6". Nice buttons and welcome! the Confederate button you discovered is a real treasure!! There were a couple of prisons for southern troops up that way like Camp Douglas near Lake Michigan in NE Illinois. First prisoners were 8,000 taken at Fort Donelson, Tn. During the war held over 18,000 men with over 12,000 simultaneously in Dec. 1864. Many escaped by digging their way out or bribing the guards. It would be safe to say some went further North to escape the war or the button was a long lost souvenir from a battle long forgotten.
