Default J.M. Cooper Revolver

Hi-

I am new to the board - I just found this mentioned on another site. This is a very good information source!
I have a 32 cal revolver marked J.M. Cooper & Co Pittsb. PA . July 26, 1859 is the last patent date . The serial number match and are in the low 300"s. I can find little information on this gun. What can anyone tell me.

Thanks

Greg Acker

J.M Cooper &Co was located in Pittsburg from 1850 to 1864, then in Philidelphia from 1864-1869. They made a total of about 15,000 pistols that were all very similiar. They came in 5 or 6 shot in .31 or .36 caliber with either a 4,5,or 6 inch barrel. The trigger guards and backstraps were either iron or brass. The .31 cal. model was refered to as the,"Pocket Model" and the .36 was called the,"Navy Model." The .36 was only made after the move to Philidelphia, Frankford, A section of Phili. Greg, thats all I could fined out. I hope I contributed somewhat! Im sure some else in here can be more specific for you. Good Luck!! Scott

Mine would then be the .31 cal 5 shot 4 inch barrel with steel backstrap and trigger guard. Would anyone have an idea what these are worth?

Thanks for the information.
