Good evening: I bought a 1861 Springfield that appears to have all the correct markings. The barrel had been altered at some point by cutting 6 inches of barrel off. I got it in Mississippi and the guy said (here we go) that it was shortened b/c that's what some of the cavalry people did. Is this gun really worthless now where I should keep it hidden or is it cool to hang on the wall. I also have the trumpet ram. Thanks Shilohboy (tennessee)
