In 33 years of metal-detecting, I've dug just one silver dollar. Mine was in a field near Salem Church, part of the Chancellorsville battle area ...and relics were all around it ...but the date on it was 1888. So it wasn't a civil war relic ...but still a "keeper." :)

Congratulations on your find!

Regards,
Pete [P.C. George]

Pete,
Good to hear from you. A question? What makes the 50 caliber colt revolving bullet so rare? found one last Friday and some more before. The only place we have been able to find these is in an old camp near Ripley. Did one certain outfit use them or were they scattered thoughout the ranks? Thanks and good to hear from you.

Nice dollar. I've never had the pleasure of finding a silver dolar. Found a clad Eisenhour (sp) once. I did find an 1853 gold dollar last year in a heavily hunted Winter camp in South Missouri, so I can't complain tooooo much

We've dug some revolving rifle bullets in the Rolla, Missouri area. A buddy of mine found an area that was evidently a target practicng area and found a bunch of them.

keep on diggin'
