A Soldier And his Sharps Rifle

Great story. I love it when a collector is able to get that much information about a weapon. I have a couple of Springfields that show lots of use and I have always wished that they could tell their own story. One is dated 1862 and was recovered in the deep South. Probably a battlefield pickup that started life as a Federal weapon but ended up serving a soldier in the CS army. Because the longarms do not have serial numbers it is difficult to find info about their history, so I'll never know for sure, and will have to be content with wondering where it was and what it saw.
