This very rusty artifact appears to be part of a gun--hammer?

Found at the Mine Creek battlesite where our other recently found items were located.

It is the lock plate to a musket, with part of the hammer still intact. It looks like many that are of the Civil War or before era, but it would be difficult to tell exactly what type of musket it belonged to unless it was cleaned and there was some imprinting on it.
