I found this belt plate in central Virginia at a stone chimney in the woods. It was 8" down in sandy soil. I cannot find this plate in my relic books or on the internet after almost two weeks of searching. Anyone happen to have any insight on this plate?
Military belt plates are to well documented after the Civil War to be a post war plate. Information so far points to possible "Missouri Volunteer Militia" or "Massachuttes Volunteer Militia". No matching plates are known at this time.
