Canister Shot???

I recently found this conglomerate while metal detecting a beach in south Florida known for various wrecks including one from the Civil War. I went metal detecting on this beach after Hurricane Nicole passed through. After dissolving this conglomerate for a couple of hours in a salt and vinegar bath and cleaning it with a brush it's starting to look a lot like iron canister shot. It looks like it's still attached to the the metal rear plate as well. The ball is about 1 inch in diameter. Do you guys think this could actually be canister shot?

Hard to tell.
