I have a cousin that owns some land out by Denmark TN he lives on Ebenezer Rd and I can't seem to find anything about civil war troops that might have passed thru his land. They might not have passed thru there but he is so close to the Battle of Britton lane I wish I knew more. I have tried to do some research on the net with no luck if you know of anything please feel free to post or email away wlane@williamsequipment.com

Thanks Will

Battle of Britton Road 1862

Hi Tennessee
Try searching on Google at http://www.tngenweb.org/records/madison ... denmap.htm
I did a quick search and found that the battle was actually 3 miles outside the city limits. There were 5000 troop involved in the battle and if you check out the above site you will have a map that is period. I think it would be a good idea to knock on doors of people now living in the area and ask permission to search their property. This is the way I operate here in Virginia and it does work if you are honest and tell folks what you plan to do. I did not do any in depth search to see just where Ebenezer Road is compared with Denmark or Britton Lane so you can do the rest of the research. I hope you will post pictures of anything you do manage to find as we are all interested in what others are finding.
Best of luck, Happy digging! :)

Thank you so much for the reply. I spoke with my cousin since the post and he got me some written permission to hunt a few farms in the area as well as his land. I have some really high hopes for this coming summer. I sure these areas have been hunted out, but just the excitement of the unknown is killing me. If anyone lives close by me you are more than welcome to hunt with me anytime. You guys have a great week

Thanks again for the reply post

relic hunting

Hey Tenn.
that is like asking a lab not to fetch. I'm not that far and love new territory. Always willing to travel to likely spots. name the place and time.
