Great Seal Button

Just thought I'd share a find I made this weekend hunting with Fonz. It was about 7"-8" inches deep in a packed horse pasture.

The worst thing about digging one of these post-CW buttons is to find them in a Confederate camp! Did so twice...VERY disappointing.

I know, and it stinks - LOL. We are hunting in what we believe in a Union camp site, and when I first found it I almost crapped on myself because of the condition. I knew it would have been yankee, but it was still nice. I didn't know that it was a Great Seal button at first, I had to look it up. I was VERY dissapointed because I thought it was an officers coat button. Oh Well, it's still very old and it's in great shape - so I'll just enjoy it like it is.
