ripley rebel

Finally got to relic hunt today( after I went Deer hunting) and found a few bullets and a brass object that has me baffled. It is 1 and 1/2 inches long, octagon shaped with a cone. The threads are fine and the size of the hole is 1/2 by 3/4 inches. Came from a campsite that both confederate and union soldiers reportedly used. Anyone has an idea, let me know.

Tim,

Beats the heck outta me! I'd certainly think the octagon shape is meant for a wrench, but other than that....dunno!

Hey Tim,

That's a good one. It looks like a thread protector of some type. Almost like an ornamental cover or nut for the end of some thing that was threaded.

Maybe from a caisson or cannon ?

Hey

Was this area every farmed or has it been farmed ? Looks like a tractor grease zurk protector, but then again I'm not the smartest one person on this forum
