My sister and I are going through our dad's estate and we found what we believe to be a Hotchkiss? We're a little leery about handling it and what to do with it. How do you tell if it's "live" or not? Our dad was a metal detector/treasure hunter and a Civil War buff. We're located in Indiana. The shell measures 6 inches long. Pics attached. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
