ID Help.....Adjuster Buckle??

I need some assistance with this brass item (adjuster buckle)? I found it at an Old Home Place in the center of Civil War activity along with a lead Poker chip, part of an Epaulet scale and most of a brass trigger guard. It is 3mm thick x 20.5mm wide x 59mm long. Thinking is might be an adjuster for a Carbine/Rifle Sling?

Adjuster

I would have to agree with you Roger about it being an adjuster for some sort of belt or sling, I'm thinking maybe a rifle sling adjuster but that's just a guess.
