I found my first real coin find last weekend.it's a 1882 indian head i found on some land that my family has in baton rouge,la. Me and my Metal detecting buddy , spector551, have been having some luck out on it. we're excited to find a coin that old out there. its the same place i found that watch fab and my last bullet post ,mm 515.thought i would share a little of my excitment about my hobby. what is the best way to clean a old coin??

LOL, can you tell Dave (or Fonz, as we call him)is new and excitable? He's made some great finds as a newbie and it has helped to fire him up! I wish my VP was as enthused as he! LOL, keep it up Fonz!

Sometimes we can hit a slow dry period. Here in Germany, I have been slow for 3 months. Hey wait, that might be due to the ground being frozen and covered with white stuff.

I only dream of hunting in Europe, LOL. What I wouldn't give to hunt some potential ground out there where the history runs to the beginning! Hope you are able to make some great finds when it thaws. Do you have some nice pics of some good finds you can post?

I do have some and I will post them tomorrow. I have found metal arrow tips, pieces of swords, a hand grenade fragments, coins - 20th and 19th century, coins - roman and greek, and many miscellaneous items.
