Hey all. I dug this piece months ago and never cleaned it. It just looked like a folded piece of copper or tin. Since I'm out of places to dig for the meantime, I decided to go through my "junk" box. After rinsing this piece with water, I noticed some faint stamped letters on one side. I then flipped it over, and the other side had letters as well. That's when I realized the shape was a heart, simply folded in half. I slowly and carefully pressed the metal back from being bent in half and cleaned it up some more with water, soap, and a toothbrush.
I'm not sure if its brass or copper, my guess would be copper due to the greenish tint and patina. Stamped on one side is:
MY HEART
IS FOR
THE
U.S.A
I guess I'll be going through the junk box more often!!!
