Hi My Fellow TH'ers
I have used the Whites DFX Spectrum E-Series for the past four years and have made a lot of nice finds to add to my collection. I run my DFX strickly in coin mode and dig every signal. I have found that if you remove the shallow iron targets you will start hearing those faint deeper targets which turn out to be cuff buttons, coins, and other small items. I realize that it is a pain to dig 50 items to get a couple of good items, but the kicker is that if you plan to work that area for some time to come the best method is to really clean out all the targets. I carry a 5 gallon bucket to haul our all of the trash; I recycle everything that is not a keeper and use the funds to purchase accessories for my DFX. I also send in pictures with a short article to Whites and sometimes get one of their $100.00 certificates to purchase more expensive items.
I wish you luck but hope you will dig out all that iron as you will find gun tools, side plates, sword blades, etc that are all iron that others have just left for you to find!
I just found a side plate two weeks ago in an area that four other TH'ers had searched, it has the hammer, with some of the screws and springs showing. This is a very cool find as the number of gun parts to date are very slim for our group.
Be safe in all you do! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
