Since the last 3 months worth of posts were lost, I thought I'd put up a picture of two to get things going again. Note the difference in diameter between the Standard and "Burnside" Eagle breast plates.

Hello Mike,
I always wanted to find one of the Burnside breast plates but never did. Must have walked past one at lest once. A cousin of mine fould two in one day at Shiloh, TN!
His brother found two OVM buckles in one day near Iuka, MS. 'Course I was in the Navy at the time and missed hunting these great sites. Alas...

More recently, many folks have come to believe that these smaller breastplates were associated with Maine troops. So, Gary, if you want to find one, go where these are found:
