I found this today and I don't know if it is a civil war period button or WW1, WW2. At first I thought it may be some type of Calvary rosette but I don't know. I found the back of the button (I think it is anyway?) about four feet away. While digging I found a few coins and a shot bullet, but this is the only object I'm not sure about. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks In Advance.

Yeah I tried out the White's DFX I have hunted that spot several time's with my Fisher 1236 and I set the DFX to Coin Mode and within five minutes I found an Wheat Penny. In all I found 3 wheat penny's, a Mississippi Tax Commission token, and whatever this thing is. So do you think its a Bridle Rosette?

US Collar emblem

Hi All
I agree with the 'Not civil War' vintage but to state that this is modern is a bit off the mark. The US collar emblem you have is most likely 1950s to 1960s. I know the ones I used in the US Army were two piece although many of the Old Timers were still using the one piece emblems. Still a good find in my book as it is identifiable and it is military in nature.
Do you know if anyone in the area was in Vietnam? I have found coat buttons from WW II at farm houses out in the wild. I do keep all Military items regardless of time frame. Keep searching that area and see what else you find. Do you run in 'coin mode' or 'Relic'? I use the Whites DFX in coin mode and when I see the coin/bottlecap icon it is normally a drop.
Best of luck but always stay safe in all you do. :)

DMX

Hey Dave,
I have a White's DMX too, but generally hunt on 'coin/jewelry' mode. I haven't had the DMX that long, so which mode to you think is best? Have you tried the 'gold' mode before? Any tips would be appreciated. Have a good one! Southern Smiles :p Donna

THing4CSA,

Modern: 1) of, relating to, or characteristic of the present or the immediate past.

When I stated "Modern" I only wanted to imply that it was post war, not being Civil War. (Characteristics of the present.)

Being a Disabled Veteran Ive wore my share of collar brass. Without detailed pictures Im only left with ballpark guesses. My guess was "Modern," see above definition.

My opinion is mine wether its right or wrong and I don't appreciate the flame war of words. You chose to go public and I appologize to each and every person who's had to read your post and my response.

Thank you ,
